Friendship 35 Buyer's Guide
Shopping the used Friendship 35 means looking at a de Ridder-designed, Jachtwerf Meijer-built solid-fiberglass cruiser from the 1980 generation, a lead-ballasted fin-keel boat of about 35 feet that rewards a buyer who checks the basics rather than chases upgrades.
Layouts on the Used Market
The boat carries seven berths below a solid fiberglass deck, with a shaft-drive transmission behind the single engine. Her 6.36–6.66 foot draft depending on load is the layout constraint that matters most: these are boats for deeper berths, not shallow anchorages. The accommodation count and the moderate 11.5-foot beam describe a practical cruising interior rather than a stripped weekend hull.
Equipment and Common Upgrades
In the used Friendship 35 market, boats commonly carry an autopilot, chartplotter, heating, freezer, and AIS, a cluster that speaks to fitted navigation and liveaboard comfort rather than barebones daysailing. A buyer should treat that suite as the expected baseline and judge any missing piece as a cost to add, not a surprise.
What to Inspect
The draft range tied to load is worth verifying against the specific hull's trim and the shaft drive for alignment and wear anchor. Sheets are specified at 12 mm diameter for jib, genoa, mainsheet, and spinnaker, so inspect for chafe at that size rather than assuming modern oversized upgrades anchor. The solid fiberglass hull and deck are the construction to survey for ordinary osmotic and impact issues, with no core below the waterline to hide.
Availability and Buyer's Takeaway
Typical availability is in the Netherlands. For a buyer, the short list is: confirm the 6.36–6.66 foot draft against your berths, check the shaft drive, verify the 12 mm sheet sizes, and expect a commonly fitted nav and heating suite. The Friendship 35 is a plain solid-glass cruiser—inspect the known points and buy the layout.
