The Ericson 352, often designated as the Ericson 35 Mark II, represents one of the most commercially successful and enduring designs of the transitional racercruiser era. Produced by Southern Californiabased Ericson Yachts between 1969 and 1981, this model was designed by the renowned naval architect Bruce King. Over its thirteenyear production run, approximately 600 hulls were completed, solidifying the model’s status as a quintessential fiberglass classic of the 1970s. King’s brief was to create an uptodate, competitive handicap racer that did not compromise on the creature comforts required for family cruising. At a time when yacht design was rapidly shifting away from the heavy, longkeeled Cruising Club of America (CCA) parameters toward sleeker underbodies, the Ericson 352 captured a unique sweet spot. It delivered spirited performance on the racecourse while retaining a wholesome, seaworthy cabin layout that made it a favorite among coastal cruisers and pocketmaritime voyagers.
