Designed by the renowned Jean-Marie Finot of Groupe Finot, this model was the direct successor to the experimental and somewhat radical Comet 11. While the predecessor was known for its unconventional aft-entry and "terrace" transom, the 111 refined these concepts into a more sophisticated, high-performance cruiser-racer. Built by Comar Yachts in Forlì, Italy, the boat was a departure from the heavy, narrow-beamed designs of the 1970s, embracing a wider beam and a more modern hull shape that prioritized interior volume without sacrificing the sailing qualities for which Finot became famous.
