The Pearson 22 arrived in 1968 as a modern successor to the Albergdesigned Electra, representing a significant shift in the company’s design philosophy. While the "Triton" name is most famously associated with the 28foot flagship that launched Pearson Yachts into the mainstream, the Pearson 22 was Bill Shaw’s answer to the need for a performanceoriented, entrylevel racercruiser that could maintain the brand's reputation for offshorecapable construction. Often referred to in contemporary circles as a "little sister" to the Triton lineage, the 22 moved away from the traditional fullkeel Alberg lines in favor of a more aggressive fin keel and spade rudder configuration.
