In the mid1980s, Pearson Yachts sought to capture the entrylevel trailerable pocket cruiser market by launching their dedicated Triton Yachts division. Seeking a design that prioritized agile performance, ease of trailering, and unmatched interior livability for its length, they turned to the molds of the US Yachts US 22. Designed by the legendary naval architect Gary Mull and built by Pearson starting in 1985, the Triton 22 traces its lineage back through the successful US 22 and the highperforming Ranger 22 of the late 1970s. Mull famously declared that the primary design goal for this family of boats was simple: fun. He set out to craft a pocket cruiser that was beautiful, sailed in perfect balance, and possessed an airy, bright interior that felt like a proper home rather than a cramped confinement. In the Triton 22, Pearson combined Mull's performanceoriented lines with their high standards of construction, resulting in a vessel that continues to captivate sailors seeking a versatile, easily managed coastal keelboat.
