The Triton 21 is a stout, fullkeel pocket cruiser that occupies a unique niche in the history of fiberglass boatbuilding. While the "Triton" name is most famously associated with Pearson Yachts’ 28foot flagship, the Triton 21 is a distinct design by the esteemed naval architect Thomas Gillmer. Produced primarily by Aeromarine Plastics Corp. in the late 1960s, this vessel was engineered to be a "little ship," offering the seaworthiness and traditional lines of a bluewater cruiser in a trailerable 21foot package. It is often confused with the Pearson Electra (22 feet) or the Pearson 21 (a Bill Shaw design), but the Triton 21 remains a standalone classic, favored by solo sailors and couples who prioritize structural integrity and traditional aesthetics over modern planing speed.
