The She 27 is a quintessential example of the "pocket cruiserracer" era, a design born from the collaboration between the legendary naval architects at Sparkman & Stephens (S&S) and the skilled builders at South Hants Engineering. Introduced in the early 1970s, the She 27 (S&S Design No. 2055) was conceived during a period when the International Offshore Rule (IOR) heavily influenced yacht design. However, unlike many of its contemporaries that suffered from the more extreme "pinched" ends of the rule, the She 27 maintains the elegant, balanced proportions that are hallmarks of the Sparkman & Stephens portfolio. Constructed with a heavyduty GRP hull and deck, the boat was designed to punch well above its weight class, offering a level of seaworthiness and windward ability that few 27footers of its generation could match.
