The Prout Sirocco 26 represents a pivotal era in British multihull design, serving as a compact yet robust entry into the world of cruising catamarans. Produced primarily during the 1970s by G. Prout & Sons at their Canvey Island yard, this 26foot vessel was engineered to provide the stability and living volume of a much larger monohull within a manageable footprint. Built with the same philosophy as its larger, worldconquering siblings, the Sirocco 26 utilized a solid fiberglass hull construction that has allowed many examples to remain in active service decades after their launch. It was designed to bridge the gap between the racingoriented Shearwater dinghies and the heavydisplacement Snowgoose cruisers, offering a "pocket" cruising experience that prioritized safety and upright sailing over raw speed.
