The Midget 31 stands as the flagship of the Midget range, embodying the design philosophy of Jachtwerf Gebr. De Kloet with a focus on extreme seaworthiness and surprisingly voluminous living spaces. Designed by the renowned Dutch naval architect Martin Bekebrede, the 31 is a modern interpretation of the classic "Colin Archer" double-ended hull form. Unlike the smaller Midget 26, the 31-foot version was engineered to provide the blue-water capabilities of a much larger vessel while maintaining the manageable proportions and shallow draft required for coastal European cruising. Built in Kortenhoef, the vessel is a product of traditional Dutch craftsmanship, featuring a heavy-duty GRP hull and a Category A (Ocean) CE rating, a rare distinction for a yacht of this length. According to the builder, the Midget 31 was specifically developed to offer stability and safety in the North Sea’s challenging conditions, making it a favorite among long-distance solo sailors and cruising couples.
