The Memory 19 is a quintessential modern classic gaffrigged sailboat that effectively launched the genre of traditionallooking, fiberglassbuilt trailer sailers. Designed by Tony Robinson in 1976, the hull was inspired by the lines of "Brownie," a 1922 Essex fishing vessel, and specifically refined to combine the rugged seaworthiness of 19thcentury workboats with the accessibility of modern materials. Since its inception, the design has been produced by a series of respected British yards, starting with Eric Bergqvist and the Liverpool Boat Company, before being produced for many years by Salterns Boatbuilders and later Collars. With roughly 140 hulls produced, the Memory 19 remains a staple of the Old Gaffers Association racing circuit and a favorite for sailors navigating the tidal estuaries of the UK’s East Coast.
