The Lancer 305, also known as the Lancer 30 Mark V, represents a refined intersection of classic Canadian naval architecture and Southern California production boatbuilding. Launched in 1980 and produced until 1985, this twentynineandahalffoot coastal cruiser was built by the Lancer Yacht Corporation in Irvine, California. Founded by Richard Valdes, the former president of Columbia Yachts, Lancer gained a reputation for exploring innovative concepts, ranging from ultralight racing machines to radical "powersailers". The Lancer 305, however, was born from a highly pedigreed lineage. It was designed by the celebrated firm Cuthbertson & Cassian (C&C Design) and represented the final evolution of the Lancer 30 series, tracing its origins directly back to modified molds of the iconic, highly successful C&C 30. By the time the Mark V was introduced, the builder had married C&C’s proven performanceoriented underwater profile with a modernized interior and deck layout designed to appeal to cruising families.
