Under power, the standard Yanmar diesel turns a Max prop to push the boat to 7.5 knots with the engine barely audible from the cockpit. Accommodations
The interior is where the Hylas 54 earns its strongest reviews. The raised-saloon variant floods the cabin with light through large ports, two to each side and three facing forward, with headroom exceeding seven feet. The three-cabin plan runs a centerline queen bunk forward with port and starboard hanging lockers, a forward head with stall shower, and a flexible port-side cabin configurable as a double, upper-and-lower singles, workbench, or office. The saloon table drops to form a double bunk; the starboard settee extends into a usable sea berth. The nav station is a full L-shaped desk with an adjustable swivel chair, a slide-out computer shelf, and an aft-facing hinged electrical panel with neat, clearly labeled wiring. The galley runs more than seven feet with Wahlee Stone counter tops, top-and-side loading 12-volt refrigerator and freezer, a Force 10 stove, a slide-out trash compactor, and dedicated microwave locker. Centerline dual sinks drain cleanly on either tack.
