Introduced in 1977, the Golden Era Petrel represents a masterful bridge between traditional New England yacht design and the lowmaintenance practicality of modern fiberglass construction. This 20.75foot pocket cruiser is a nearexact fiberglass reproduction of the legendary Fish Class, originally designed by Nathanael Greene Herreshoff in 1916. Tracing its roots back to the Bristol, Rhode Island, workshops of "the Wizard of Bristol," the Fish Class was conceived as an enlarged, more powerful, and drier sibling to the iconic Herreshoff 12½. By utilizing the exact hull lines of the Fish Class, Golden Era Boats of Noank, Connecticut, successfully preserved the spoon bow, graceful sheer line, and heartshaped transom of the wooden originals. They transformed a centuryold masterpiece into a durable fiberglass daysailer that continues to captivate maritime purists.
