Often referred to as the S&S Freya Class or the Benello 44, the vessel was born from design #1930/2, a commission originally named Gem for the noted yachtsman William Ziegler III. While only five units were ever produced, the model carved out a significant niche in offshore racing history, notably winning major events on both sides of the Atlantic during the 1970s.
