The Ericson 282, frequently referred to in shipyard literature and by enthusiasts as the Ericson 28 Plus, represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of Bruce King’s design philosophy for Ericson Yachts. Introduced in the mid1980s as a replacement for the older 28foot models, the 282 was engineered to offer the interior volume and stability of a 30footer within a more manageable and slipfriendly 28foot envelope. It features a modern underbody with a fin keel and a spade rudder, departing from the more traditional lines of its 1970s predecessors. This model was built using Ericson's proprietary TriAxial Force Grid (TAFG), a hollow fiberglass floor timber system that distributes rig and keel loads throughout the hull, a hallmark of the builder’s commitment to structural integrity during the Kohlmann era.
