The Edel 6—also cataloged as the Edel 660 in Europe and the Edel 665 in North American markets—is a defining example of the French pochecroiseur (pocket cruiser) movement that gained momentum in the mid1970s. Designed by the innovative Maurice Edel and produced from 1975 to 1984, this compact sailboat was engineered to provide a bridge between small daysailers and dedicated coastal cruisers. It arrived during a golden era of European fiberglass production, capitalizing on the rising demand for trailerable, familyoriented yachts that could be easily managed by a couple. Between 900 and 1,500 units were completed worldwide across French and Canadian production lines, cementing its status as a highly successful entrylevel pocket cruiser.
