The Contest 48CS (Custom System) represents a pivotal moment in the evolution of the Dutch yard Conyplex, marking a transition toward more sophisticated, modern performance cruisers designed for shorthanded longdistance voyaging. Launched in the late 1990s as a successor to the popular Contest 46, the 48CS was one of the first models in the fleet to fully embrace vacuuminfusion construction, a process that significantly improved the hull’s strengthtoweight ratio compared to traditional handlaid laminates. Designed by Georg Nissen with an interior by Dick Young, this model bridges the gap between the classic, heavydisplacement "tanklike" builds of the 1980s and the sleek, highperformance luxury yachts of the current era.
