The Customflex Crescent stands as a pivotal vessel in American sailing history, recognized as one of the earliest fiberglass sailboats built in the United States. Conceived as a versatile one-design racing and cruising sloop, this 24-foot monohull carved out a dedicated niche, particularly within the competitive fleets of Lake St. Clair. Designed by Richard C. Hill, an artist and automotive industry model maker who was also an engineer at Ford Motor Company, the Crescent’s production later transitioned to Customflex, a builder celebrated for its precision in one-design racing dinghies.
