The XCat is a paradigmshifting multisport catamaran that emphasizes modularity, portability, and versatility over the raw powertoweight ratios typical of traditional beach catamarans. Designed and manufactured by the Austrian firm Row & Sail, the XCat is built to be a "transformer" of the marine world, capable of being transported on a standard car roof and assembled in under 15 minutes without tools. At 16 feet (5 meters) in length, the vessel is constructed from hardshell, foamfilled EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) and skincoated hulls, making it virtually unsinkable and highly resistant to the impacts and abrasions associated with beach landings. While it is often grouped with rowing craft due to its innovative forwardrowing system, the sailing variant elevates the platform into a legitimate highperformance lightwind cruiser.
