The Waarschip 28 LD represents a fascinating intersection of traditional wooden craftsmanship and highperformance modern design. Introduced in 1994 by the renowned Dutch shipyard Waarschip, this yacht was conceived during an era when fiberglass construction had thoroughly colonized the production boat market. Rather than succumbing to the homogenous aesthetic of fiberglass, Waarschip doubled down on their signature construction philosophy: highquality Bruynzeel mahogany marine plywood panels joined and encapsulated in modern epoxy. This composite woodepoxy approach resulted in a monocoque hull structure that was exceptionally light, stiff, and robust—attributes that production fiberglass laminates of the 1990s simply could not match at the same weight. Designed by the respected naval architect K.T. Kremer, the 28 LD (Light Displacement) was engineered to satisfy the demands of active, performancedriven sailors.
