The Toucon 35 is a rare and specialized evolution of the legendary "Toucan" racing class, originally designed by the renowned naval architect JeanMarie Finot. While the standard Toucan 10meter became an icon of Lake Geneva racing for its revolutionary lightair performance and radical narrowbeam profile, the Toucon 35 (often referred to in French archives as the Toucan 35 or Toucan de Croisière) represents an offshorecapable adaptation of this design philosophy. Built primarily in the 1970s by the Chantier Naval du Toucon, this model was intended to bridge the gap between the "gliderlike" speed of lake racers and the structural requirements of coastal cruising. According to the historical design archives of Finot, the original hull form was characterized by an extreme lengthtobeam ratio, a feature that the 35foot variant maintained to ensure its signature slicing motion through choppy water.
