Built by the Austrian shipyard Schöchl Yachtbau on the shores of Lake Mattsee near Salzburg, the model represents a deliberate alternative to the highly standardized, massmarket production boats of its era. Codesigned by Manfred Schöchl alongside Hans and Gottfried Schöchl, the Sunbeam 25 was originally introduced in 1977 and enjoyed a remarkably long and successful production run that extended until 2001, with 474 hulls completed. The yard’s heritage as master cabinetmakers dating back to 1838 is immediately apparent in the boat's exquisite interior joinery and structural refinement. Despite databases occasionally isolating specific production revisions, such as the 1993 model year, the core design represents a continuous pursuit of structural integrity and refined lightwind performance.
