The Snapdragon 747 represents a refined evolution of Thames Marine’s philosophy, emerging in the mid1970s as a sophisticated successor to the earlier Snapdragon 24. At 7.47 meters (approximately 24.5 feet), the model was named to reflect its metric length, signaling the builder’s intent to modernize its fleet for a European market. Built in the prolific Canvey Island yard, the 747 retained the robust, heavylayup glassreinforced plastic (GRP) construction that made the brand a staple of British coastal sailing while introducing a more streamlined coachroof and improved interior volume. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the 747 was designed specifically to bridge the gap between a pocket cruiser and a serious offshore coastal vessel, offering a level of interior amenity rarely seen in boats under 25 feet.
