The Sadler Phoenix 27 represents a distinct chapter in the evolution of the David Sadler design lineage. While many sailors are familiar with the ubiquitous Sadler 26 and 29, the Phoenix 27 is a specialized derivative built from the moulds of the earlier Frigate 27. The primary distinction of the Phoenix variant is its modified topsides, which were raised by approximately seven inches during the moulding process to resolve the headroom limitations found in the original Frigate design. Produced primarily in the late 1980s, the hulls were often manufactured by Island Plastics for Sadler Yachts, with many completed by professional yards or as highquality ownerfit projects. This has resulted in a robust, heavydisplacement cruiser that prioritizes seaworthiness and interior volume over racing performance.
