The Pearson 32, introduced in 1979, represents a refined intersection of William Shaw’s design philosophy and the industrial maturation of Pearson Yachts. Produced until 1982, this model was intended to fill the gap between the more traditional, cruisingoriented Pearson 323 and the performanceleaning Pearson 30. Unlike the earlier Albergdesigned Pearson Vanguard (also 32 feet), the 1979 Pearson 32 features a modern underbody with a fin keel and a spade rudder, marking it as a true child of the "performance cruiser" era. The boat was built during a period when Pearson was leveraging its 240,000squarefoot Portsmouth facility to achieve hightolerance fiberglass construction, resulting in a hull that is both stiff and relatively lightweight for its class.
