The O'Day 152, introduced in the early 1980s as a successor and refinement of the original O'Day 15, stands as a testament to the O’Day Corporation’s commitment to making performance sailing accessible to the family sailor. While its predecessor was a dedicated, highstrung racing dinghy often used in collegiate competition, the "Mark II" (152) was redesigned to bridge the gap between a spirited racer and a stable family daysailer. Built with a focus on durability and ease of use, the 152 features a more voluminous hull shape and an increased beam compared to the original 15, providing the necessary secondary stability for those less inclined to spend their afternoon hiking out over the gunwale.
