The Kettenburg 32 (K32) represents a pivotal chapter in the postwar expansion of San Diego’s most celebrated wooden boat builder. Designed by Paul Kettenburg and introduced in the late 1950s, the K32 was envisioned as a more accessible, slightly smaller alternative to the legendary K38. While the larger PCC and K38 models were dominating West Coast ocean racing, the K32 sought to capture that same performance pedigree in a package that was manageable for a cruising couple or a small family. Built primarily of carvelplanked Philippine mahogany over steambent white oak frames, the K32 remains a quintessential example of the "Kettenburg Look"—narrowbeamed, elegant, and exceptionally seaworthy.
