The Jeanneau Brin de Folie (and its earlier incarnation, the Folie Douce) represents a pivotal milestone in the history of European production boatbuilding. Released in 1970 as the Folie Douce, this ninemeter cruiser was conceived during an era of rapid transition from heavy, traditional wooden cruisers to agile, massproduced fiberglass hulls. Designed by the highly respected naval architecture team of Philippe Harlé and JeanMarie Finot, the boat was built by the French shipyard Jeanneau in Les Herbiers. By 1975, midway through its tenyear production run, Jeanneau introduced a modernized deck mold and interior layout, rebranding the model as the Brin de Folie. Across its decadelong production run, over 800 units were built, establishing it as one of the most successful entrylevel cruising designs of its era and a worthy successor to the legendary Sangria.
