The HallbergRassy P28 occupies a hallowed position in the annals of Scandinavian maritime history as the vessel that effectively transitioned one of the world’s most prestigious yards into the modern era. Designed by Harry Hallberg and introduced in 1955, the P28 was originally constructed with a mahogany hull on oak frames. However, its most significant historical milestone occurred in 1963, when the model became the first Swedish sailing yacht to be produced with a fiberglass (GRP) hull. According to the HallbergRassy official archive, a total of 536 units were produced over an eighteenyear production run ending in 1973. The "P" in the name stands for "Pojkbåt" (Boy's Boat), a nod to its intended market as an accessible yet capable cruiser, though its robust construction eventually earned it a reputation as a serious offshore contender.
