Developed by the renowned German builder Bootswerft Gruben on the shores of Lake Constance in 2003, the Gruben 17 was conceived as an ultrastable, familyfriendly daysailer and trekking dinghy ("Trekkingjolle"). Positioned to deliver effortless recreation and uncompromised safety, the vessel addresses the needs of day sailors, families, and sailing schools who demand the simplicity of an open dinghy without the flighty, capsizeprone behavior typical of lightweight racing classes. When production was assumed by BTM Marine Wassersport GmbH in Bitterfeld, the builder refined its sailingtechnical equipment while preserving the core hull shape and its signature safety profile. In comparison to sportier alternatives like the doublechined, dualcenterboard Ixylon (also produced by BTM Marine), the Gruben 17 trades highperformance, flatout racing capabilities for unparalleled physical space, stability, and cockpit comfort.
