The Dyer Dhow 12 1/2 represents the largest iteration of the legendary Dhow series, serving as the "senior" sibling to the ubiquitous 9foot Dhow and the 7' 11" Midget. Developed by Bill Dyer at The Anchorage, Inc., this model was designed to provide a more substantial platform for sail training and coastal exploration while retaining the rugged, utilitarian DNA of the aircraft rescue boats Dyer produced during World War II. Built with a distinctive lapstrakestyle fiberglass hull, the 12 1/2foot model offers a significant increase in volume and stability over its smaller counterparts, making it a favorite for adult sailing programs and families who require a "biglittle" boat that can be rowed, towed, or sailed. According to Dyer Boats, the vessel’s longevity in production is a testament to its hull form, which utilizes a hardchine, flatbottom design to maximize initial stability and loadcarrying capacity.
