The Contest 48, a hallmark of Dutch engineering from the Conyplex yard, represents a pivotal era in the evolution of highend, semicustom bluewater cruisers. Designed by the prolific Dick Zaal and launched in the late 1980s, the model was engineered to provide a bridge between the traditional, heavydisplacement cruisers of the 1970s and the more performanceoriented, ergonomic yachts of the modern era.
