The Bolero 35 Mark III occupies an incredibly niche, nearmythical corner of the modern sailing world. Designed by the late, legendary naval architect Ed Dubois of Dubois Naval Architects, this vessel was conceived not as a production cruiser for the masses, but as a pure, uncompromising daysailer. It was directly derived from the design language and flushdeck aesthetics of the massive 33meter superyachts that Dubois designed and the worldrenowned Vitters Shipyard constructed in Zwartsluis, Netherlands. Indeed, the pedigree of this 35foot daysailer is intimately linked to the Dutch megayacht industry; the hulls themselves were molded by Vitters in 1994, with the final finishing and custom fitouts completed by nearby specialist yards such as Camara Marine B.V. Only four of these highly bespoke hulls were ever created, with building number 004 representing the ultimate evolution of the design—the Mark III. Because of their limited and highly customized production, some hulls remained uncompleted for years, with the final hull meticulously fitted out and launched for the very first time in 2019.
