The Austral 24, introduced in 1980 by the South Australian boatbuilder Austral Yachts, represents a hallmark era of Australian trailerable yacht design. Founded by Adrian and Sue Keough, the Adelaidebased yard established a strong reputation for producing robust, dualpurpose cruiserracers that balanced familyoriented comfort with reliable sailing characteristics. Emerging as a larger sister to the awardwinning Austral 20, the Austral 24 was conceived to bridge the gap between trailerable conveniences and true pocket cruising capability.
