The Alubat Ovni 445 represents a significant evolutionary step for the French shipyard, bridging the gap between the traditional, rugged utility of earlier Philippe Briand designs and a more modern, performanceoriented approach by naval architect Marc Lombard. Launched in 2008 to replace the popular Ovni 435, the 445 remains a benchmark for dedicated bluewater cruisers who demand the "goanywhere" capability of an aluminum liftingkeel hull. Built in Les Sables d'Olonne, the vessel is constructed from 5083 H111 aluminum, featuring the brand's signature hardchined hull that provides both initial stability and significant interior volume. Unlike many of its predecessors, the 445 introduced more sophisticated hull lines, a longer waterline, and a more ergonomic cockpit, aiming to appeal to sailors who refuse to sacrifice sailing sensation for the security of an alloy "tank."
