The Lehman 12 stands as a significant vessel in sailing history, recognized as one of the earliest fiberglass production sailboats in the United States. This 12-foot, cat-rigged sailing dinghy was conceived by the notable marine architect Barney Lehman, making its debut in 1953. Designed primarily as a one-design racing dinghy, the Lehman 12 gained a reputation as an exceptionally responsive and easily handled boat, capable of planing. While initially built by Barney Lehman's own company, PlastiGlass, production of the popular dinghy transitioned to W.D. Schock in the late 1950s, further cementing its place in the burgeoning fiberglass boat market.
