History and Design

Production of the Equipe commenced in 2005 under the stewardship of Polysier SA, a company founded in Gijón, Spain, in 1989. The builder's name, "Polysier," subtly alludes to their use of polyester resins, a material favored for its durability and cost-effectiveness in fiberglass boat construction. Marc Laurent is recognized not only as the designer but also as the owner of the fundamental plans and molds for the Equipe. Laurent's background as a prominent coach and former competitive sailor suggests that the Equipe was engineered with a keen understanding of what makes a responsive and effective training platform. While there is no widely documented record of significant variations during its production run, the consistent design appears to have met its intended purpose as a straightforward and robust dinghy.
