History and Design

The Etap 28S was a product of Etap Yachting, a Belgian boat builder established in 1970, renowned for its commitment to safety and innovative double-hull construction. Production of the 28S commenced in 2007 and concluded in 2009. The design collaboration between Marc-Oliver von Ahlen for the hull and Stile Bertone for the interior aimed to create a sailboat that was both exciting and distinct, moving away from generic styling towards a more avant-garde European aesthetic. The overarching design goal was to blend form and function, resulting in a boat that was not only visually appealing but also a lot of fun to drive and easily handled. A notable design option was the tandem keel, offering a shallower draft of 1.1 meters (3.6 feet), which significantly enhanced accessibility to various cruising grounds. The Etap 28S was later succeeded by an updated version, the Etap 30CQ.
