The Sportina 760 emerged from the design board of Andrzej Skrzat in the mid-1990s, with production commencing in 1998 under Sportlake S.A., the precursor to Delphia Yachts. During this foundational period, Delphia Yachts (then Sportlake) was rooted in Poland's rich boat-building tradition, focusing on the creation of small sailing boats. Skrzat's design philosophy for the Sportina 760 aimed for a slightly more "speedy hull" than typical for its class, while still prioritizing the needs of cruisers for stability and ease of handling.

The boat was offered with significant variations to cater to different sailing environments. While the standard configuration included a lifting wing keel, providing a minimum draft of 1.31 feet that made it ideal for exploring shallow waters and even trailerability, a fixed keel version was also available, featuring a draft of 3.94 feet (1.2m).
